The Open Science Meeting (OSM) will be held from 26 to 28 January 2014 in Makassar, Indonesia. The OSM has been organized biannually since 2002, mostly in Indonesia.
Main goal of the OSM is to strengthen the scientific bonds between our two countries adhering to the principles of reciprocity and mutual benefit. For OSM 2014 the main focus is on the nexus between science and society. At the OSM 2014 scientists as well as dignitaries from ministries, academies of science and other stakeholders will attend and present their research and policy.
Academics will indicate how their research projects can benefit society and contribute to better policy. In a number of sessions, representatives from business, policy circles, societal organisations and science will discuss the opportunities and obstacles in the relationships between their respective spheres.
The OSM 2014 programme will consist of scientific presentations, public disputes, workshops, keynote speeches, laptop presentations and science for policy sessions. After the two plenary day’s the OSM Masterclasses on different themes will be organized at several locations in the archipelago.
